Welcome to a recent bird proofing job undertaken in Bracknell Berkshire.
This client had solar panels installed to the roof back in 2014 and up until quite recently had been completely problem free! However in 2021 the client started to notice a few feral pigeons starting to spend a lot of time on the roof around the solar panels, with a few weeks she said there was around 6-8 pigeons on the roof most days.
To start with she didn't think too much about it and quite liked feeding them in the garden! Fast forward to summer 2023 and the number of pigeons living under the solar panels had increased to over 30, now the pigeons weren't so welcome.
The solar panels were filthy, the roof was covered in guano and nesting material and the gutters were overflowing.
Solar Panel Cleaning
Firstly we had to carefully scare the birds out from under the solar panels, this doesn't usually take more than a few claps of your hands or a bit of a bang on the solar panels. Once all the pigeons had been evicted we started to remove all the debris from under the solar panels, cleaned the surface of the solar panels and gave the roof a good clean with disinfectant.
Installation of Pigeon Proofing Mesh to the Solar Panels
Now all of the pigeons and their nests have been removed from under the solar panels, everything has been cleaned and sanitised. Its time to install the wire mesh solar panel pigeon proofing kit, our bespoke solar panel proofing kits are all made to fit each individual array of panels.
We use 12.5 x 12.5mm black pvc coated galvanised mesh, this is secured to the solar panels with a clips system to suit your solar panels, there is a range of different clips that we use depending on the style of your panels.
We will never drill or screw anything into your solar panels, and the wire mesh will always be securely fixed to the array and not just pushed underneath.
